I SEE ANGRY PEOPLE
By Evan Williams
Everywhere I look, listen, read
I see angry people.
Angry at the economy.
Angry at the politicians.
Angry at anyone with a difference of opinion.
Americans angry at Americans.
Escalating tensions. Incendiary language.
Threats of violence on fellow citizens,
Based on their political affiliations.
Ideologies fueled by ignorance.
Unable to utilize dialogue to engage in meaningful discourse.
Opposed to anyone outside our borders,
And agitated by many within.
Ingrained judgments. Tacitly accepted bigotry.
Wannabe militia men.
Good old boys, with motives not so good.
Cloaking hatred with the stripes on the flag.
"I'm more patriotic than you!"
The war cry of the logically disengaged.
Or hiding behind their narrow view of the Bible,
Rather than applying the gospels' lessons of love and universal acceptance.
Waging their own jihad. Picking a fight for God.
